Along with an outstanding five course meal, Woodside Wine Appreciation Club members experienced some delightful artisan wines from Los Cerrillos, Tempus Alba, and Clos de Chacras, and also had an exciting first look at (and taste of) Argentina’s signature white varietal – torrontes.

We’d like to once again thank our hosts for the evening, Roger and Kathleen, for providing such a lovely venue and menu. The food was fabulous, and the ambience at the scenic and historic Drew House in Elora, Ontario was truly enjoyable.

Between courses (the delicious creations of esteemed chef Roger Dufau) , members were shown brief slideshows depicting the source of the grapes, photos of the winemakers, and more.

The highlight of the evening came toward the end of the gathering, when the award-winning Clos de Chacras Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 was served. This full-bodied, spice and fruit-forward gem was awarded the Argentine Wine Awards 2008 Trophy for best Cabernet Sauvignon.

As you read this, the Serrera Torrontes 2008 is being bottled. We’re looking forward to its arrival in Ontario in the coming months, and especially anticipating enjoying it all through next summer.

Orders will be processed and we’ll contact you with details soon!

On behalf of all members, a special heartfelt thanks goes out to all who helped out, including Alejandra and Stephan, Eric and Amanda, Renee and Ken, Marie, and our very special guest Chrissie from Hacienda Del Plata.
