October Club Order Bodega Los Cerrillos

October Club Order Bodega Los Cerrillos

After many bumps in the road we’ve decided to embark on a revitalized club strategy, one that focuses on a single, selected wine and artisan winery with proven performance and outstanding quality and value.

We’ve chosen to make this change as a result of many unexpected challenges. We are now targeting selectedwines, chosen by the Club’s “Wine Hunters” (Sabrina, Javier, Ken and Renée) during our annual winter visit to Mendoza. These artisan wines are available in Ontario exclusively for members of the Woodside Wine Appreciation Club.

This will be our first attempt with this approach. We hope it will work and grow.

The “Wine Hunters” Javier, Sabrina, Renée and Ken

Our first Feature selection, the wonderful Finca El Peral Reserva, is a classic Bourdeaux blend of equal parts Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.  This wine has been a stand out at all of our tastings and continues to be a critical success with a recent 90 point rating from Wine Enthusiast where it was one of 59 Argentine brands listed as “Value Brands of the Year”. This wine also received much praise from Vic Harradine here in Ontario and was the winner of the silver medal at the Ottawa Wine and Food Show.

Reasonably priced at $18.78 ($112.68 per 6xbottle case), this value wine asks you to take a second sip!

You can place a deposit and order using the “Buy” page on the Woodside Wine Appreciation website. Limited quantities of other Los Cerrillos wines are also available on a first come first served basis.

The shipment is due to arrive in Ontario for late January, 2013.

Ignacio Reina and Renée Sampling the Newest Vintage

The Bodega Los Cerrillos winery and vineyards are located in Tupungato in the Vallé de Uco, Mendoza at 1200 metres elevation. Cool nights and long, hot, dry days supports wine growing at its best.  The Rutini family vineyards are well known in Mendoza province and the old vine grapes selected for this wine are the best of the best.

To place an order please visit the Woodside Wine Appreciation Club.

We will be delivering orders to the LCBO next week so please visit our “Buy” page and place your orders soon.

New Export Levies Creating Unrest Amongst Farmers

March 29th, 2008  |  Published in Club Orders, News from Argentina

Wine shipments from Argentina have been affected by protests by farmers, arising from new export levies:

  • Crunch time for Argentine agriculture [via BBC]
  • Argentine farmers halt tax strike [via BBC]

Our hope is that this doesn’t affect the projected arrival of wine club orders to any appreciable extent, and we’ll keep you posted.
